Best treatments for hyperpigmentation

Prescription strength 4% hydroquinone is better than any OTC product such as glycolic acid for lightening dark spots in the skin. Hydroquinone has been the gold standard for many years. Glycolic acid is good for hydrating or peeling the skin but does little to treat hyperpigmentation.
