Constrasting Opinions on Peels and Laser Resurfacing for Large Pores?

Ok, half of you say that Chemical peels and Laser resurfacing helps large pores and the other half say it's absolutely useless. I'm totally confused!
I am a 31 year old mixed race male with olive skin and large pores on my T zone. I have tried all kinds of potions and ointments to no avail. I am seriously considering having something a little more invasive like a peel or laser resurfacing, but how can I reach a decision when there are so many contrasting opinions? Please help
