What Should my Partner Expect After Getting a Rhinoplastic Nose Done and 3 Metal Plates Removed?

My partner got an operation which he got his nose replaced with rhino plastic and also got 3 metal plates removed from his cheeks 3 days ago. They slit the inside of his mouth to get the plates out and his face is very swollen but no bruising yet.He is in a serious amount of pain and cannot feel his top lip. He is currently taking 2x 50mg tramadol tablets when required along with 2 solpadol 30/500mg every four hours and gabapentin tablets 3 a day. Is this normal that he is still in pain? Help!
