I had a chalazion for about 2 months then about a week ago i had a removal through surgery....a week has passed but the swelling still persists what should i do now.. I am taking oral medicines and eye ointments..
Answer: Chalazion Treatment Thank you for the question and sharing your photo. I recommend you continue hot compresses, oral antibiotics and receive an injection of Kenelog. The injection is usually very successful and is typically as beneficial as surgery. See an experienced eyelid surgeon to help you. Good luck.

Answer: Hot compresses Now that the chalazion has been drained, make sure to use hot compresses to help your body to completely remove the contents of the blocked oil gland. Try to do these at least 3 times every day. Believe it or not, the compresses are even more important than the oral and topical medications. Make sure that your eye doctor is aware of your progress. Good luck!

Answer: Swelling after chalazion surgery Sometimes, it may take multiple procedures to completely treat a chalazion. Even when the chalazion is "cut out", it can recur, which is very frustrating for both the patient and doctor. Kenalog is often used to treat chalazia, but one of the main risks is skin depigmentation (i.e., it can turn your skin white). 5FU is another alternative, but that is an off-label use. I hope it goes away soon!

Answer: Chalazion It seems like you may have some scar tissue that could be excised. Also, there is a chance that there is a recurrence of the chalazion. See an oculoplastic surgeon who can help sort things out.

Answer: Chalazions and coctail injections Kenaloh/5-FU A coctail injection of 5-Fluorouracil with Triamcinolone acetonide is the most effective approach for these lesions and should be the first line of treatment for the majority of cases. Optimising the function of the meibomian glands with microwaveable eyes bags and flax seed supplements will reduce the risk of recurrences.
