Several breast augmentation patients say it didn't hurt at all, but not every one

Dear Flipthathouse: We love questions like yours. It seems so simple to answer, yes, sometimes. But that isn't really a worthwhile answer for you. In our surgical facility, using careful pre-op preparation, specific intra-op anesthesia techniques, and appropriate post-op medications we are able to provide a comfortable breast augmentation experience for our patients. In their post-op surveys they often remark that the surgery was painless, however we remember that they did benefit from... more

Painless breast augmentation

There is no suche thing as a painless breast augmentation. Each procedure has some inherent discomfort that lasts a few days.

Is There Such a Thing As Painless Breast Implants: Pain is in the brain of the beholder

Pain is in the brain of the beholder: There are techniques which claim to be less painful than others but I am not aware of any truly effective and painless techique which can include the BRAVA, filler technique or any implant method. Some oral supplements or topical creams tout these benefits but are not well studied.

Pain after breast augmentation.

Hi! 1)  There should be very little pain after breast augmentation.  Many of our patients go back to work in 2 or 3 days. 2)  The trick is to do very gentle surgery (no blunt dissection), and to put local anesthesia in the tissues at the end of the operation.

Breast augmentation discomfort is well tolerated

Is there such a thing as painless Breast implants? Yes. Post-surgical pain is due to several factors. Some are Patient related (your pain threshold, history of alcohol or prescription medication intake( resulting in a much shorter duration of action of pain pills), age (middle age women express less pain than younger women) among others) and Surgery related (choice of proper size implant (not a huge implant that inordinately stretches the breast), the MANNER in which the implant pocket was... more

Breast augmentation discomfort is well tolerated

Every surgical procedure has a certain degree of discomfort associated it with it. This discomfort is largely related to the patient's own pain tolerance and the amount of dissection and long acting medications left in the pocket during surgery. Under the muscle dissection has usually more discomfort but is easily overcome with pain pumps, long acting meds and muscle relaxants after surgery to prevent spasms. All the best!

There is no painless breast augmentation

The discomfort from breast augmentation is due to a number of factors. The small incision is usually not a great complaint we hear but placing implants under the muscle is probably the biggest factor other than the implant size itself. I have performed many breast augmentations and I have yet to have a patient tell me that they wouldn't have had the operation if they new how much pain they would have. I place a longer acting local anesthetic in the pocket as I close the incisions which... more

Yes to painless breast implants

The breast implants are totally painless - it is the surgery that hurts. You will be given medication for pain. In the 30+ years I have been doing this, I have never had a patient tell me it hurt so much she would not have done it.
