Pain with Ulthera
Ultherapy does hurt if something is not done. In my practice, we generally give both a pre-medication and inject the most sensitive areas. After the procedure is over, there is a vague soreness that does not require pain medication for 1-2 weeks.

Ulthera Discomfort
Discomfort from Ulthera is less than a sensation from a burn, and certainly more than a tingle. It is not that each individual pulse is so painful, but more that a single treatment may involve several hundred pulses. Most Doctors performing the procedure recommend use of oral anxiolytics ( Valium, etc), usually combined with pain medication to help ease the process.
