How painful are internal stitches?
I'm five weeks post op and have a small sharp object under the skin near my incisions. Surgeon said it's internal stitches that she can remove in a few weeks- I'm in lots of pain. Can stitch under skin really cause this?

Pain from stitches
- Yes, stitches coming up under the skin can feel like a needle,
- Most of these sutures are dissolving, getting softer with time.
- But if a suture I can feel is hurting a patient, I give local anesthetic and try to remove it.
- Ask your surgeon is this is a possibility for you. Best wishes.
