It was only a minor cut but I find my right side tight and painful when I smile, is it due to any complication?

Hi to all doctors, I had done my Alarplasty with Rhino 4mths ago, it was only a minor cut but I find my right side tight and painful when I smile, is it due to any complication? I cannot find any redness or anything wrong with it but just that when i smile to much or I laugh too hard, it feels painful and tight. Could it be my Rhino? My left side is perfectly alright. Thanks for the help.

Increased mucus secretions and associated crusting are common following nasal surgery.  Generally, they can be cleared by gentle blowing which I allow patients to begin 3 weeks after rhinoplasy.  Saline spray may help to loosen crusting as well.

Hi Pamela, It is very unlikely that Rhinoplasty could cause Post Operative Tori. These are  Bony prominences and are benign and were present prior to surgery. You just did not know and had not noticed them. Best, Dr. S

The periosteum and muscle over the nasal bone swell after Rhinoplasty. This takes months to resolve and the skin feels spongy over the bridge. We recommend massage 2-3x/ day and occasionally re- taping for a month. The scar fade gels will help. Give it time! Dr. G.

Do NOT turn your tip up any more--it will not look good and will look artificial. You can find someone to do anything but you should leave it alone.
