Scar revision surgery is individualized to the particular scar, so they are all not treated identically. In general, a scar revision procedure removes a noticeable scar to trade it for a scar that is less noticeable.
Scar revision involves cutting out the old scar and creating a finer surgical scar that should be less noticeable than the original scar. Sometimes techniques are used to create an irregular scar to replace a prominent straight line scar. In many cases, techniques such as dermabrasion or laser resurfacing are used to further blend in the revised scar. I hope this information is helpful.
