Sebaceous Hyperplasia and Differin?

Hi I was just told I have sebaceous hyperplasia . The dermatologist told me I have to use a retinoid and I have gone back on my differin. She said differin will get rid of these. Is this true? I read on the internet so many different things some say it will get rid of it some say not which is it??? Does anyone know if this will work or am I wasting my time. Thanks so much for any info to this.

HI Dan it does not really seem to get rid of them though I dont think they have gotten bigger and I have not seen too many more of them.. I have been to many derms and some say it should help most say it wont . They say it should help keep it in check so you dont get many. I figure I will just stay on it since its good for your skin . I dont think there really is too much you can do about them but cauterize them off if they get too big but I think that might leave a scar and so I just keep using the differin hoping not to get much more of them. If it does help I think it will take longer then a month though and everyone is different so you should not give up on it. I think it also helps with pore blockage and oil production so that might help in the long run. Just remember to stay out of the sun its not good when on differin and not good in general. Hope this helps a little.

Thank you so much for the reply. I'm going to stick with the Differin and am looking at getting the electrodessication on a couple of the big ones. Take care and thanks for getting back to me.

Hi there, I also have sebaceous hyperplasia and my derm has me on differin. Have been on it a month now and dont see any results. Can I ask how it has worked for you. Has it got rid of your existing lesions ad has it prevented more from coming.....thanks. Dan.
