Uneven results years after Rhinoplasty

I had open Rhinoplasty done 2 years ago. One side of the tip of my nose is soft, while the other side is still hard. Will the other side soften as well?

A: After one year the healing is permanent

William Portuese, MD

The hard side of the nose probably has cartilage grafts placed inside the nose, whereas the soft side did not. After one year the healing is permanent, and it will always have one hard side and one soft side.

A: See a revision rhinoplasty specialist

Toby G. Mayer, MD

There are many reasons for this. However, if the nose looks fine to you do nothing. If not, you should see a rhinoplasty revision specialist.

A: Unevenes after Rhinoplasty

Daniel Reichner, MD

Deahlanne The differences could be due to several causes - scar tissue, cartilage grafts, a deviated caudal septum, tip bossing, etc.  It is best to return to your doctor or seek consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to explore your options.
