Omnilux - Will It Damage Eyesight? I Was Very Sensitive To The Light During Treatment, Is This Normal?

I've purchased a series of omnilux light treatments. I had the first one a week ago. I had two strips of gauze rested on top of my eyes, and then a pair of black plastic eye cups rested really lightly over that. The technician said the light was bright, but it was harmless and you 'got used to it'. When the light was switched on, and I literally jumped. It was blinding - like looking directly into the sun. My eyes watered for the entire treatment. Is this expected? Is this normal/ok?
