Can dermal hyperpigmentation fade with time?

I believe I have dermal hyperpigmentation from a fractional Co2 procedure. The color is a bluish gray and has not responded to topical treatment. Will the color improve with time and strict sun avoidance.? Can anything be done to improve the discoloration?
