On RealSelf a Dr. in Spain says he does sliding genioplasties without plates or screws but instead uses "very thin steel wires to fix the piece, 2 or 3 anchors suffice and the remain buried under the osseous callus formed around the area". In his "vast experience" he says he's never had a problem of any kind. However, after years "a majority of plates and screws produce pain, irritation, may migrate or need removal". Is there any Dr. who knows about this method? Is it available in the U.S.?

Yes, there are options. In my experience fillers are the best option as the issue is typically a soft tissue dimple. A chin implant rarely improves a soft tissue cleft. Most importantly, it sounds like this is causing you a huge amount of distress. You should discuss this first with your parents...
This is like solving a puzzle? A crease may be related to dynamics of your lower lip(?) muscles. Try to avoid lip/tonque motion that creates it. Or, if deformity is there all time one can consider to fill it with fat graft or soft tissue filler. It would be in your best...
It would be great to evaluate this clinically and take xrays. Most likely root canals have nothing to do with this. Sometimes, plates cause deformity in the chin area.
