Should the Numbness in my Leg from a Bruise Last Long?

I fell at a friends party and toward the knee cap area it was bruised really big around there. A week later the bruise went away but it was very very numb for some reason and to the touch. I went to the doctor and nothing was broken just some tissues in my leg. the numbness has lasted 4 months now. I just wanted to know if that was normal for that to happen? why would it become numb in the first place?
