Smart Lipo: Q&A

When Does Numbness and Bruising Go Away After Smart Lipo?

how should i treat the bruises so they'll go away quickly? they are yellow/green tones and red/blue tones. basically, all different stages. I've been icing it a few times a day and using arnica cream. i keep reading difference in opinions regarding ice vs. heat... any clarification will be appreciated. also, can i start running after one week? im worried that the heat/sweat will inflame the treated areas and delay the healing process. thank you.

Bruising after smartlipo

Aftter smartlipo or any liposuction, bruising can take up to three weeks or more to resolve. Lower areas of the body take longer to have bruises go away than upper body regions. Some surgeons recommend taking Arnica by mouth or other herbs, and using vitamin K cream to reduce the brusing faster. Check with your surgeon. The tingling and swelling can take many months to dissipate.

Short term bruising and long term numbness usually resolve after smartlipo

While bruising after smartlipo is unusual, when it occurs it generally resolves in 2-4 weeks. Numbness is due to interruption of nerve sensation probably due to swelling and wound healing and may take 3-6 months to resolve.
