8 weeks post op breast lift with augmentation under the muscle. Two weeks post op experienced seroma on the left side of the left breast. Prior to the seroma, I had FULL feeling in the nipple and breast. The doctor had me come in to have the seroma drained. Lidocaine was used to numb the site. Site remains numb today as well as diminished sensation to left side of nipple. Will this improve since I did have sensation right after the surgery? Now, shooting and needle stick pain on and off.

Sensation following surgery can take a while to return.

From your description, you are likely to have return of sensation. Nerves can be very sensitive to pressure and inflammation. The results are often numbness or a "pins and needles" sensation. Time and patience are the best advice. Sensation usually comes back in these situations, but it can take many months for it to normalize.

Additional surgery may increase your chance of residual... more

Breast numbness

I think you are on track - if you had sensation following surgery, most likely this will be temporary. Pressure and inflammation and scar tissue can all affect sensory nerves. Try to be patient and followup with your surgeon!

Breast numbness after seroma

The pressure and inflammation caused by a breast hematoma or seroma can challenge the tissues and nerves within the breast. The numbness is not unexpected, though my bet is that after all settles down the feeling will return. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd
