Can the Roundness of the Nose Be Reduced?

I have a round ball-like nose. Can just the ball be reduced? How much will that cost? And is there a way to do it without anesthesia?

Yes it is possible.

The tip roundness can be corrected by several methods. It  can be done under local anesthesia without you going to sleep. See a rhinoplasty specialist who is experienced.

Roundness of the nose can be reduced with tip-plasty

Yes, the roundness in the ball of the nose can be reduced with surgical tip techniques called a tip plasty. Sometimes the cartilage has to be simply removed from the tip of the nose, and sometimes the tip cartilages have to be sewn together to create less of a bulbous tip. It all depends on the presenting issues and problems. It can be done under local anesthesia, but it is quite painful because of the amount of nerve endings at the nasal tip. For that, we recommend a brief general... more

Rhinoplasty; Reducing the Roundness of the Nasal Tip Under Local Anesthesia

Hi Angie, Yes, the round, bulbous tip of your nose may be refined with rhinoplasty under local anesthesia.  You should consult with a few rhinoplasty specialists to make certain that other changes will not be required. Good luck and enjoy your new nose. Dr. P

Tip Rhinoplasty Can Correct Round Tip or Ball Tip

The appearance of a "ball tip" most commonly arises from the shape of the underlying cartilages. If this is the case, the lower lateral cartilages (tip cartilages) can be trimmed and reshaped either with sutures or with grafts to relieve the excess curvature. A tip rhinoplasty is the most reliable means of acheiving the desired result. Most surgeons perform rhinoplasty under general anesthesia To get a better understanding of what your nose would look like after surgery, your... more

Tip rhinoplasty

Roundness of the nasal tip can be improved by perfroming a tip rhinoplasty. This is usually best done open.  Sutures can be placed into the tip cartilages to improve the shape.  The fee varies from region to region.

Rhinoplasty to address the tip of your nose

Yes, a rhinoplasty can reduce the roundness of your nose. This is typically done by removing and shaping the cartilage framework underneath the skin. As far as price goes, this varies according to region and doctor, but the average is around $4,000. Because the nose is a very sensitive area, performing a rhinoplasty without anesthesia will be extremely painful. However, it can be done with twilight sedation and this is pretty easy to recover from. Good luck!

Tip of the nose can be reduced with local anesthesia without siginificant problem

You don't need to be under iv sedation or general anesthesia for reducing the tip. The tip is easily made numb for tip rhinoplasty. The tip can be reduced by altering the  cartilages through an incision under the nose.

Round ball of the nose

It is called a bulbous tip deformity. It can be reduced. Cost is anywhere between $2500 to $7500 depending on your geographic location. It can be done without anesthesia by very few surgeons. One of them is Norman Pastorek in New York City. Most surgeons will however use anesthesia. Regards

This is a common problem and fixable

The box tip or ball tipped nose a fairly common problem due to large cartilage that is shaped like a ram's horn. This runs along the upper edge of your nostril and extends down between the nostrils. I usually approach this by making an incision in the skin between the nostrils (the collumela) and lift the skin and subcutaneous tissue off of the cartilage . I then trim it and suture it together if necessary. If the overlying skin is very thick, change in the shape will not be as... more

Reducing the nasal tip

A round, ball like nasal tip is from one of two things: large cartilage and/or thick skin. Either can be addressed by nasal tip rhinoplasty. Often, once the nasal tip is reduced, the rest of your nose is out of balance. So, you should seek out a rhinoplasty specialist to determine what is best for you. I usually use computer imaging to demonstrate potential results. As for anesthesia, nasal surgery is always performed with local anesthetic. Additionally, we use either sedation by and... more

Best way to achieve control of nose tip roundness is via rhinoplasty (nose job)

Unless you are into pain, there are no adequate methods to ensure control of tip contour without anesthesia. Even the non-surgical nose jobs use anesthetic. Generally the best way to control the tip roundness is to manipulate, shape, suture, incise, contour, or graft the cartilage of the tip of the nose. This is best achieved with a surgical procedure using anesthesia
