Normal for New Skin After a Vitalize Peel to Be Red?

I had the vitalize peel done a week ago and I am still peeling. I am trying very hard to not scratch the skin off as it's very itchy. However when I have been waking up the last 3 days i have new places where the skin had peeled off. I am not pulling at it, but I am sure when I am sleeping and tossing/turning my pillow could be rubbing it off :( The places where the skin was removed over-night by accident is now bright red!! Will this go away or have I damaged my skin?
