Is it normal for your stomach to feel like concrete after an abdominoplasty? My stomach bulges out as much as it did before but it feels like I swallowed home plate. This was a revision of a previous surgery improperly done. Is this normal after myofascial plication or does it indicate an abnormal area of scar tissue? What if anything can I do about it now? Preplexed.

Hard to know without examination, consider a pseudobursa vs muscle plication

Hello, Its hard to know without examination. If it is directly in the midline and very thin, running from sternum to pubic symphysis I would imagine that it is your muscle plication that you are feeling. If it also has a horisontal component and is either down by your pubic symphysis or just above your belly button it can be a pseudobursa. Firm belly after tummy tuck?

You should see your surgeon to be sure there is no hematoma (blood clot). Firm distension of the abdomen could be ileus, swelling, hematoma, or perhaps normal. Impossible to know online, but if it is not normal, additional intervention may be indicated.

Abdominal stiffness after revision tummy tuck

We don't revise many tummy tuck procedures and it is hard to know why your abdomen is so stiff, yet still has the same contour as before. The scar after any revision can take longer to mature and soften, so the best we can say is be patient, and check in with your surgeon to see if things are indeed as expected. Thank you for the question. How far out of surgery are you at this point? Unfortunately, it is not possible to give you good advice without direct physical examination. The differential diagnosis “swallowed home plate” sensation include a tightened muscle plication, swelling, or fat necrosis.
