I am interested in a minor sliding genio.. around 3mm projection, but also interested in HA/bone paste put in my sulcus so this area would fill out as well. Is this possible? Also, what about HA to my jaw angles? Lastly, are most sliding genios accompanied by bone grafts to fill out the dents caused by moving chin forward, and where are they harvested from? Under what circumstances would bone grafts not be used? Is it possible to do a SG without causing a person's face to lengthen? Thanks!
Answer: Questions about sliding genioplasty Sliding genioplasty of 3 mm typically does not require bone grafting or hydroxyapatite paste. The genioplasty can be designed not to lengthen the face. Please seek consultation from surgeons have experience with sliding genioplasty

Answer: Sliding Genioplasty At a 3mm sliding genioplasty you would not need a bone graft. Hydroxyapatite granules or cement (HA) can be placed into the slight step-off to build out the sulcus. HA augmentation of the jaw angles is challenging and will not create the same effect as an actual jaw angle implant. It can be done but expect more of a rounder jaw angle effect than an angular one. Only in cases of extreme chin movements would a bone graft be used. The angle of the osteotomy cut in a sliding genioplasty as well as the plate and screw fixation used can control the vertical change in chin length whether it be longer, shorter and to say the same.

Answer: Advancement genioplasty Advance sliding genioplasty make your face looking longer. You need 3mm advance with 2-3mm vertical shortening to avoid looking longer. You don't need anything to your sulcus because sliding advance also make your sulcus smooth.HA is hydroxyapatite and it called "bone cement" I don't recommmend HA. Silicone or Medphore implant is better to your angle.
