What are negative results can I get from Pixel Laser on the neck and upper collarbone area?

I had pixel laser resurfacing done to my upper chest area about 4 weeks ago.
I followed all pre and post-procedure recommendations to the letter. At 2 weeks, after the pealing, the result was a severe inflammation with hundreds of tiny bumps and a red, blotchy appearance. I have gone subsequently to my dermatologist who prescribed a topical antibiotic to prevent infection and a short course (1 wk) of OTC cortisone cream to the most affected areas around the collarbone.
The dermatologist said there was a likelihood of permanent damage; that is, little or no improvement. Additionally, things could get worse (cysts that look like whiteheads). If it does resolve, she indicated it will do so slowly--over many many months.
She also recommended NO sun exposure (not even with sunscreen) for at least a year. I must wear high necked shirts at all times when outside
Although the likelihood of such side effects are small, they are so incredibly unsightly that I would strongly advise against ANYONE trying this treatment. You will look much much worse if you get this side effect.
I was not told about this side effect prior to treatment (although I did sign a general side effect waiver).
I do not normally have sensitive skin.
Naturally, I am very depressed. I was "sold" on a low risk procedure that would improve my appearance. Now it turns out it may have permanently wrecked my skin.
