Given that melanin absorption at 1064nm is very low I am surprised that hair removal is possible at all with the Nd:YAG laser. Can anyone claim to have achieved 'good', long-term results with any Yag system?
Does the Nd:YAG Laser Actually Remove Hair Efficiently and Permanently?

Nd Yag lasers are actually among the best lasers for safe hair removal, but evenso, the proper expectation is permanent reduction, so you will still need several treatments and it will not be 100% effective.

YAG systems do induce long term hair reduction
The literature and our clinical experience do support the use of Nd:YAG lasers for hair removal especially in darker skin types. Although multiple treatments may be necessary and results can vary substantially, our clinical experience is that we have induce signficant long-term hair removal/reduction in many patients.
Although it is true that YAG-generated laser light is comparatively less well absorbed by melanin than shorter wavelengths it is still absorbed somewhat selectively at the level of the hair follicle.
