Should Nasal Hair Show After Rhinoplasty?

I can see slight nasal hair from the bottom of my nostrils. This wasn't visible before. Is this normal? I had my tip de-projected and it also looks more rotated so maybe the fact you can actually see my nostrils a bit more is why I have noticed this. There is more coming from the area where the incision was made inside my nostrils, could I have grown more hairs in response to healing?!

Nasal Hair Show after Rhinoplasty

You do not have more nasal hair after rhinoplasty, but it is more visible due to a change in tip rotation. As swelling resolves, the tip may settle and the nasal hairs will be less obvious.

Nasal Hairs after Rhinoplasty

Nasal Hairs after rhinoplasty can be more visible if a nose is shortened or made smaller.  Sometimes nostril reduction if appropriate can help this, but more than likely it is probably best to just trim them. Consult with the surgeon that performed your procedure and he or she will give you an idea of the outcome here. Good Luck Dr. Kimberly Henry San Francisco,CA

Tip rotation in rhinoplasty

Tip rotation in rhinoplasty is a delicate balance as the nose may show more nostril as the tip rotated upward and the nose is shortened. The nasal hairs are a fact of life and trimming may be order, though rhinoplasty does not cause them to grow. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd

What can cause nasal hairs to be more evident after rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty surgery doesn't cause the nostril hairs to grow any more than normal. Tip rotation may make it easier for you to see up into your nostrils to see the hair. Sometimes a patient may experience alar retraction (elevation of the nostril margin) which can make more of your nostril visible from the profile view. There are ways of correcting this retraction if needed. I'd check with your surgeon, though, as it's hard to give much more advice without an examination. more

Buy a nasal hair trimmer

Many patients use these small, efficient, battery-operated devices without having prior nasal surgery. In just few seconds, once a week, the unwanted hairs are gone. Laser hair removal is nearly impossible in this area and not worth the time, pain, and disappointment. Try Brookstone for this. Dr. G.

Unwanted hair after rhinoplasty

As my other colleagues have mentioned, rotation of the nasal tip may expose more of your nostril and the nasal hair that was previously hidden.  Trimming, shaving, plucking or waxing is not practical in this delicate area.  To remove the unwanted hair, you may want to consider a hair removal laser treatment, but give your rhinoplasty incision at least 3 to 6 months to clear any surgical inflammation first.  A prescription for Vaniqa may also be helpful to keep unwanted... more

Rhinoplasty and hairs

Nostril hairs may be more apparent depending upon what was done. Hard to say without an exam.  Check with your doctor.

Rotation of Tip During Rhinoplasty

The ideal result with rhinoplasty places the tip in the proper position but does not over-rotate it so that one can see into the nostrils. Sometimes this is unavoidable, and more than one Hollywood Starlet have become famous in spite of this. The surgery will not cause an increase in the nasal hairs. You have two choices, derotate the nose or trim the hairs. If it is very bothersome to you, discuss it with your surgeon.

Rhinoplasty does not make hair grow in your nose.

Rhinoplasty does not make hair grow in your nose. It is probably more noticeable to you due to upward rotation of the tip.
