Scars Treatment: Q&A

What Are My Treatment Options for an Old Incision Scar? (photo)

As a newborn, i was diagnosed with neurblastoma.. The cancer was found in my abdomen area and chest. I have two scars from when they did the surgery to remove the cancer. The one on my chest isn't much of a problem. However the scar on my stomach is huge and very evident. I don't show my stomach at all. Im only 16. Things that would be enjoyable such as swimming, and going to the pool are never an option. So is there ANYTHING i can do to reduce the appearance of my scar?

Scar revision of abdominal scars

These depressed abdominal scars do well with scar excision and layered closure. I perform these abdominal scar revisions on an outpatient basis.

I'm 21 and I got my scar revision surgery done today, mine was far deeper than yours but of the same length. I could notice some results the moment i woke up, it was less deep, but there was still a minor depression...i'm hoping that it will go away once it heals up properly. Not to scare you or anything, but waking up from the operation was painful. I needed 2 painkiller shots and 2 tablets. Im home now and and even just sitting down, lyjng down and getting up is the hardest thing ever and very painful.
My scar is exactly like urs u shouldnt hide it cus if it werent for that scar u wouldnt be alive right now be greatful and dont hide it is just a scar if u feel uncomfortable when ur with ur friends to go to the pool or beach then wear a shirt. but be thankful for that scar cus ur alive because of it.
