My Tattoo Has Scarring, How Deep Did It Actually Go? (photo)

Hello my name is Kaleb. I have a dermatological question regarding tattoos. I have a tattoo on my chest i'm considering removing, and I know lasers can only go so deep. My tattoo has minor raised scarring along most of the outlines, and around the edges it appears to have bled into the skin a little and the outlines are kind of fuzzy. So I am wondering how deep the tattoo artist actually went. And if I were to have it excised, how deep does the excision procedure go? Thanks for your time.

Hey there kaleb, I could not find a date so I'm not sure how old this post is. Anyway I'm not a docter but I'm a tattoo artist and that tattoo dosent look that bad at all the design is pretty good! A little raising although not ideal does happen sometimes. I think your being a little hard on it and unless you can't live with the design itself i wouldent remove it. You can always go back over it in a deeper black and add just a tad but of color around edges. This will make the tattoo pop and fix the "fuzzy" lines. Just my .02
