Answer: My 19 year old daughter has one deformed breast that is not growing. What can be done to help her? First, I would recommend a consultation with a local plastic surgeon. Breast asymmetry is fairly common in women, especially during the developmental stage of a young woman. Breast augmentation with different implant sizes may be necessary. It is difficult to make any specific comments without seeing at least photos. If one breast is actually constricted, it may require a tissue expander first to allow for the placement of an appropriately sized implant at a later time. Good luck and be safe.John T. Answer: Breast Asymmetry - It's More Common Than You Think Asymmetric breast development is not uncommon. Most women’s breasts are slightly asymmetric. Gross asymmetry, however, can be corrected either with an implant alone in the undersized breast, reduction and/or lift of the oversized breast, or a combination of both. When your daughter has reached full developmental maturity, surgery can effectively symmetrize her.

Answer: Breast augmentation can help enlarge 1 breast that is not growing Thank you for your question. Your daughter situation is not unusual as many patients have failure of one or both breasts to develop fully. A breast augmentation on one side can possibly achieve symmetry. Choose your plastic surgeon very carefully and find one at a major Medical Center who has experience treating pediatric patients with micromastia or agenesis of the breast.

Answer: Breast Asymetry Correction of Uneven Breasts or Poland's Syndrome That must be very difficult for her at such a formative age. She is not alone. This is actually a very common situation for many women. Poland's Syndrome is a name for a congenital lack of development in one breast. There are several options available to her. The best first step is to make an appointment with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to have her evaluated. Common options are to have the larger breast reduced or the smaller breast enlarged. Often both breast need to be modified to create balance. This can be done with implants or even fat transfer from other parts of the body. Good luck on finding the best solution for her.
