Can Muscle Tightening Prevent 6-pack Abs from Developing?

I had a tummy tuck about a week ago that included muscle tightening. I want to be able to develop 6 pack abs, and am afraid that the muscle tightening would prevent that. A doctor here told me that it wouldn't, but I found an article which says "plication of the rectus sheath creates an unnaturally flat appearance..." Can somebody please explain to me how this article and the doctor can both be right? Thank you very much.

This is a question you should have discussed with your surgeon before the procedure. Every surgery is different depending on the anatomy and goals. If you are thin and have muscle show before and only need skin tightening, then you will have the same"6 pack" muscle show after surgery. If your muscles are wide then only tightening to the midline is needed. If you have extremely loose fascia the additional tightening is needed which will affect the appearance of the muscles... more
