Multiple procedures increase risk of complications

Andrew Y. Kleinman, MD answers: How to lay down after multiple surgeries?

I'm having a Tummy Tuck, Brazilian Butt Lift, Liposuction, and Breast Implants all done in one surgery. How will I lay down?

Alma,

Your surgical plan sounds extensive. You and your surgeon hopefully have discussed the pros and cons of doing all those procedures at the same time. One significant con is the risk of complications post-op complications. The longer time you need anesthesia, the more of the risk of developing blood clots. Also, to avoid post-op complications, I encourage all of my patients to get up and walk. The best way to avoid blood clots is to walk frequently post-op.

I know that you were asking more about suggestions on how to lay down after multiple procedures, however, the pros and cons of multiple procedures preformed at the same time is a very important issue to discuss with your surgeon.

Hope this helps,

Andrew Kleinman, MD
