Multiple Lipomas and Weight Gain. Could It Be Dercum's Disease?

I had lithotripsy performed in 2009 for multiple kidney stones. At that time and over the years I had a few lipomas, small round and right under the skin. After this procedure I rapidly gained weight (30 pounds) and am finding new lipomas and rope-like fatty deposits all over. I have had surgery to remove some, but many are so deep and cause more harm when removed. How can I tell if this is Dercums, etc. and will insurance cover lipo to remove the fat cells in highly concentrated tumor areas?
