Fractional CO2 Laser can proceed with history of MRSA but with caution

You may proceed with Fractional CO2 Laser; however, it should be performed under supervision of a board-certified dermatologist. Prior to treatment you should apply Hibiclens in shower (away from face) every other day for 4 weeks, apply mupiricin 3x/day to nares and fingernails for whole week prior, and consider prophylactic antibiotics such as doxycycline. Obviously, if there is any active MRSA boil anywhere on the body, the Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing should not proceed.... more
