Can the hair above one's ears be used for transplantation?

Hair above the ears can be used as donor hair for hair transplant surgery.  A doctor would need to examine you to make sure you have a good donor area.  3000 graft surgery is possible if you have good donor hair and scalp elasticity.

but if it is sufficiently thick enough, then it would be a great harvesting
site.

The general consensus is that it is not a problem at all providing there is adequate density that when the procedure is completed you will have an overall natural appearing look and not overly thin out the hair above the ear. I routinely use it especially in those difficult cases where you do not have an adequate donor- recipient ratio and you must find the real estate somewhere !
