Is it now safe for me to smoke 3 months post op open rhinoplasty? If not what are the chances of me developing complications? My main concern is infection, I smoke a pack a day.I have medpor implanted at the tip of my nose.

Smoking 3 Months Post Rhinoplasty

No physician will ever condone smoking, before or after rhinoplasty. What difference does it make if the Medpor implant survives when you don't because of a heart attack or some serious illness caused by cigarettes?

Smoking and Medpor Implant.

Hi Anthony, Any artificial implant that is resting in the tip of  your nose has a likely hood of extruding even if you dont smoke. Smoking decreases the blood supply and oxygenation to parts of your face, so if you start to smoke again I believe that you may increase your chances for extrusion and/or infection. Best, Dr.S.
