Im considering doing some type of cosmetic enhancements. I just had my 2nd son 5 months ago. Im 5'4, 131 lbs currently but hope to lose atleast 10-15 more lbs. I was 108 lbs before having kids. I work out 6 days a week and currently take the diet aid oxy pro elite. I have 3 more weeks left to finish the supplement. Im pretty sure I need a breast lift, but not sure if I need a tummy tuck. I was told by one dr that liposculpture would work for me. I need more input! The less invasive the better!

Too Soon to Do a Mommy Makeover?

Ideally you want to be back to your goal weight. I like my patients to wait at least 6 months after delivery. Longer if not at ideal body weight or if they are breast feeding. Without pictures or an examination, I cannot comment on you case. In general, if the skin is good shape and minimal or no stretch marks, you may be able to do liposuction. If there is some excess skin present, it will need to be removed with either a mini tummy tuck or full tummy tuck.... more

Mommy Makeover: Is least invasive also the best treatment?

Your consultation regarding mommy makeover should address the issue of the breast and the tummy separately. You will need a complete history and physical. You should also discuss future plans regarding future pregnancies. In general I would wait at least nine months after child birth to proceed with mommy makeover. I would wait 6 months after breast feeding. With regard to the breast, if there is only loss of volume in the upper pole, you may only need implants. If the droppiness... more

Timing for mommy makeover

Before having a mommy makeover -- a selection of procedures that target issue areas for women after pregnancy -- you should be close to your ideal weight. The diet supplement you are taking should be stopped at least two weeks before surgery. There is a range of options available to treat the abdomen and breasts. Consult a board certified plastic surgeon for your best options and possible outcomes.

When to have plastic surgery after pregnancy

The best time to have any cosmetic surgery is when you are at or close to your goal (pre-pregnancy) weight. If you have loose skin or stretch marks on your abdomen, you may need a mini-tummy tuck or a tummy tuck to ensure the best possible outcome. If your skin has good elasticity then liposuction alone may be ok for you. You should be off your diet supplement for at least two weeks prior to having surgery. I recommend consulting with a few board certified plastic surgeons until you find... more

Too Soon to Do a Mommy Makeover?

Without seeing at least pictures it is difficult to say. I will say that if you have any significant stretch marks, then the liposculpture could leave you with loose skin. If that is the case, then it might be a mini tummy tuck or a full one, depending on how loose the skin is and where it is loose too.

Wait 6 months after finished Nursing child for Breast Lift Mommy Makeover-Liposuction wont correct loose skin

I advise waiting 6 months after you stop nursing your child before having Breast Lift or Breast Augmentation as part of a mommy Makeover. I cannot tell without examining you but be very cautious about choosing Liposuction over a Tummy Tuck as part of your Mommy Makeover. If you have no loose skin on your tummy and only moderate fat under your tummy skin then Liposuction may be all you need. I prefer Laser Liposuction as it provides some additional skin tightening during the... more

A mommy makeover typically involves breast and tummy contouring

Hello, A mommy makeover procedure typically involves breast reshaping and abdominal contouring. Most women find that they have excess skin and soft-tissue laxity of their breast and abdomen after having children. Since you cannot exercise excess skin laxity away this usually needs to be removed and tightened by a surgical procedure if the amount of laxity is more than just very minimal. This is done through a breast lift procedure for the breasts and a tummy... more

Mommy makeover timing

When you are within 10 to15 pounds of your ideal body weight, then you are at the point where you may consider a mommy makeover. The best way to determine which procedures are best for you is by discussing your goals with a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Mommy Makeover After Pregnancy

Without pictures and/or an examination, it is impossible to tell exactly what procedures are right for you. In general thought, a mommy makeover is any combination of breast augmentation, breast lift, abdominal liposuction, and/or tummy tuck. In general, I recommend that patients wait at least nine months after pregnancy before undergoing abdominal liposuction or a tummy tuck, and at least 6 months after breast feeding before undergoing a breast augmentation or breast lift. The... more

When to do mommy makeover?

It's hard to tell without a photo. In general I would wait 6-9 months after delivery. That gives your body enough time to recover from the pregnancy. You need to wait at least 3-4 months after you quit breast feeding if you did. it's probably not to early to start getting consults. At least that will give you some better info. Usually the consultations are free anyway. Good luck.

Mommy makeover, less invasive for tummy, breasts

It is hard to say what would benefit you the most without seeing you or your photos. You could have totally non invasive with Thermage for the tummy or liposuction or tummy tuck.

Timing your Mommy Makeover

The timing of a mommy makeover is dependent how quickly you recovery from your pregnancy in terms of returning to your pre-pregnancy weight, and whether sufficient time has elapsed to allow for your abdominal wall and abdominal skin to stabilize. If you are very fit and had good abdominal muscle tone pre-pregnancy, then your abdominal wall will recover more quickly. If you have few striae or stretch marks, then the skin elasticity of your abdomen is better... more

Timing of a mommy makeover.

The key to timing of a mommy makeover is when your body has reached a "normal" state for you, in terms of exercise, actual weight, muscle mass, and nutritional habits. I explain to patients that that typically takes 9-12 months after you stop nursing or 9 months after you have given birth. It also makes the most sense to wait after you have decided not to have anymore children. Once you feel you are back to your "normal" self, then I would make an appointment with... more

When to Undergo Mommy Makeover

Congratulations on the birth of your second child. Undergoing a mommy makeover procedure is a big decision and there are a number of factors to be considered. Firstly, I would recommend you getting to your "ideal" weight that you can maintain. This will help in the planning of the operation. You want your pants tailored at your normal weight and this is the same for surgery. With respect to liposuction, you may be a candidate for that or a tummy tuck, the outcome will be based upon... more

When to do a "Mommy Makeover" after pregnancy

There is probably no absolute time after pregnancy at which it is acceptable to proceed with a mommy makeover, but I would caution patients to wait at least 4-6 months. Most patients should probably wait longer. Ideally, a patient should be at or close to the weight at which she wishes to live. 10 or 15 lbs may represent a substantial amount for a patient weighing only 110lbs, but may not be that significant for someone who is content with and plans to live at 180 lbs.... more

Breast surgery and abdominoplasty - mommy makeover

Without photos or a face to face examination it is impossible to say what would be best for you. As long as you are not morbidly obese the exact weight at surgery is not so important. It is much more important that your weigth has been stable for 6 or more months. Patients who have body contouring surgery while losing weight have a higher rate of disatisfaction after surgery and a higher revision surgery rate as they continue to lose weight after surgery. You may not need a tummy tuck... more

What to know for mommy makeover timing

There are two things to consider re timing for a mommy makeover: one is when you are physically ready, the other when you can take the necessary recovery time which requires significant help with childcare for a few weeks, because you will need to be very careful about lifting. Otherwise, at least 3 months after you are done breastfeeding and when you feel that you are close to your target weight is the earliest.

When to have a Mommy Makeover

Congrats on your new baby Amanda! It's never too soon to go get several expert opinions from board certified plastic surgeon who perform this combination surgery regularly. Once your weight and diet is normalized and you have the ability to take several weeks off for a safe and full recovery, then you are a candidate. This can be challenging for a new mom and all your responsibilities. Only after a complete exam and discussion of your goals can you and your... more

Timing of mommy makeover

In general, if you are planning to lose more weight, it's best to have a mommy makeover after this is achieved. Many patients of course are not able to get to their ideal weight, but can still be very good candidates for a mommy makeover. Less invasive procedures may or may not be appropriate, but if you have substantial tummy skin excess and breast droopiness, a tummy tuck and breast lift and/or augmentation are usually indicated. A consultation with a board certified... more

Mommy Makeover timing

Thank you for the question. Sounds like you are doing all of the right things in preparation for your mommy makeover. Be careful, less invasive does not necessarily equate to achieving the best results (or even results that you will be happy with). I would suggest visiting with a few board certified plastic surgeons to discuss your goals and the best way to achieve them. Unfortunately, without photos or direct examination i cannot give you specific advice. Generally... more

Timing

I prefer patients to be within 10% of their target weight and that their weight is stable. As far as timing it is not too soon to have cosmetic surgery provided you are not breast feeding. I would advise you to see a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. That will be the best way to get input since you cannot be examined on a forum. Best of luck on the new you.
