Unfortunately, the aesthetic surgery community has not developed agreed upon standards for the term facelift or "mini-facelift". The result has been many different companies and individuals marketing their "unique version" of a procedure that may or may not be beneficial to patients in the long term.
At The Maas Clinic, minilifts come in two varieties -- the mini neck lift and the mini facelift. The former addresses neck laxity and skin redundancy and the later addresses the lower facial jowls and fine wrinkles below the cheek. Both offer longevity and predictability.
If its a small skin only lift, its probably not worth trading off the scar.
Questions to ask the surgeon: Is it skin only or will the SMAS be tightened? How long will it last and where will the scars be? Make sure the before and after photographs that you see are of patients who had the exact same procedure you are being offered. Many of the deceptive ads we see now show patients that clearly had a full face lift while marketing some form of a minilift.
