Recently, I've learned of mini-lipo. Is it REALLY less invasive and quite common for the person to be able to drive home after w/ faster recovery a majority of the time? I could only find a couple drs in the midwest area who do it and all do it in a hospital o.r. I didn't want to keep paying for consults if untrue. Also, what is the average price range? Thanks.

Mini Lipo sounds like a marketing term. Liposuction vaires from mini to mega depending on the size of the fat deposits.

Mini Lipo sounds like a marketing term. Liposuction varies from mini to mega depending on the size of the fat deposits. Small areas of fat can be extracted under pure local anesthesia, but most people are better off with a driver even if no systemic medications are used. By the way, local anesthesia liposuction was invented by dermatologists. The notion that you should only see a plastic surgeon for liposuction is patently ridiculous. Hopefully most readers will see this as a marketing... more

Mini-lipo

If it sounds too good to be true....... When you hear of "new" procedures that are "mini" in nature, only done by a "couple" of doctors in the Midwest, and allow you to drive home yourself, you should ask yourself, "does this sound too good to be true? You should search for a surgeon that understands your goal and explains the technique options available with an honest appraisal of likekely possible results. All good techniques and procedures were once new. But not all new techniques and... more

"mini-lipo" at a hospital, and you drive yourself home?

You would never be allowed to drive yourself home if you had anything other than local anesthesia ONLY, so this must be an uncomfortable procedure, which means it will NOT be thorough, and probably not very precise. Dr. Johnson has it right here--something is rotten about this deal. Is your prospective surgeon an ABPS-certified plastic surgeon? There are many real boards that certify doctors in areas that have nothing to do with plastic surgery, and some "bogus" boards as well.... more

Mini lipo at a hospital

Something is just not connecting here. A brand new 'mini' procedure that most well established plastic surgeons do not seem to know about. A 'less invasive' procedure which seems to done only at a hospital. Liposuction surgery where you drive yourself home. Many red flags here, and perhaps you should be asking about more than the average cost. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd

Mini-lipo

It has been my experience that any procedure billed as "mini" delivers mini-results but not at a mini price! Save your money and get opinions from at least two board certified Plastic surgeons! Good luck!

Mini lipo ? What the heck is that?

Mini lipo sounds like yet another marketing ploy - I have no idea what it is or what the recovery and results are like. Make sure your seeing a plastic surgeon that is an ASPS member and is board certified - this type of doc won't steer you in the wrong direction.
