Fluid retention after mastectomy

Fluid retention immediately after surgery is the body's response to the "trauma' of surgery. As the body heals the lympahtic channels that were disrupted reconnect. However, if you proceed to exercise soon after surgery you m ay notice increased swelling because of the disruption of these channels.
