Mid-face lift with dentures

The short answer is no. Having dentures should not prevent you from having a mid-face lift. There are several different surgical approaches to the mid-face which your should discuss with your board certified plastic surgeon.

Mid-face lift and dentures

It is possible to do a mid-face lift using a variety of approaches. Some surgeons prefer the endoscopic approach using incisions in the temples to access the cheek region and left the mid-face. Other surgeons will approach the midface through and incision in the eyelid. A third approach, as mentioned by other surgeons is under the upper lip. The incisions in the temple and eyelid would have no bearing on wearing dentures. The incision in the upper lip may hinder the proper fitting of your... more

It is common for edentulous individuals to loose bone mass.

It turns out not having teeth has an impact on retaining bone mass. Loss of bone mass can affect the facial shape. It absence of teeth does not create an issue for mid face lifts.

Dentures aren't a problem for face lift patients

Having dentures will not affect your result. There are various approaches to the mid-face, and you can discuss with your surgeon the method that will work best for a person with dentures. It is important that you remember to bring your dentures with you on your day of surgery so that your surgeon can assess his or her work with the dentures in.

Is a Mid-face Lift a Problem when a Person Has Dentures

During a mid facelift lift, some surgeons will do an incision inside of the mouth. In that case, it might be a little tender to wear your dentures for a while, but it can still be performed.

Mid Facelift with Dentures

No, but they should be worn during the surgery so the surgeon can evaluate his work properly.

Dentures and facial rejuvination.

Having dentures is ok if you considering a facial rejuvenation procedure like a mid-facelift. At my Austin, Texas area plastic surgery practice I often have patients with full dentures or partials that undergo facial rejuvenation procedures without problems. Your plastic surgeon may want to have the dentures during surgery to make sure the volume and position of your mouth/cheeks is constant to your normal appearance but otherwise you should be fine. Midface lifting

Midface lift with dentures. Having dentures should not pose a problem with midface lift. In fact, having dentures long term can produce midface deficiency by gradual loss of the underlying skelton, causing shortening of the vertical height of the maxilla (the midface bone) and recession. Midface lift can be safely performed through the lower eyelid, through the temporal region or through the mouth. The incision in the mouth may need to be adjusted to avoid the dentures from rubbing... more

Midface lift and dentures

I perform all of my midface lifts through a lower eyelid approach, so dentures would not be a problem. I think that some docs will make an incision near the upper gums inside the mouth. If so the denture might rub against the incision. Check with your surgeon.

Is a Mid-face Lift a Problem when a Person Has Dentures?

Absolutely not. This, IMHO, is an urban myth that I have heard come up several times in the past 20 plus years that I have performed Face Lifts. Aesthetically speaking, dentures supply augmentation to the mouth area but this isn't the main or even ancillary focus of any Face Lift. Face Lifts, IMO, should aesthetically improve the face, cheeks and neck areas removing excess fat, SMAS and skin while shaping the cheeks. Be sure that the surgeon, you choose,... more

Dentures and Mid-Face Lift

There are several variants of Mid-Facelifts and the placements of the incisions vary. Some use incisions along the upper buccal sulcus (the junction between the upper lip and gum). Placing an incision along here may interfere with how the dentures fit. You should discuss sch items with yor surgeon to make sure how yor operation will be done.

Will a midface lift affect wearing dentures?

This is a good question and the answer depends on your surgeons operative plan. If the midface lift is approached from the lower eyelid incision (usually in conjunction with lower eyelid rejuvenation) than this will not affect your mouth or gums and you can still wear your dentures. Some surgeons perform a midface lift through small incisions in the temples and this approach will also not affect your dentures. If however, the decision for the midface lift involves making an... more

Midface lift and Dentures

Interesting question. Thank you. If the midface lift is approached through a periorbital (around the eyes) and/or temporal approach (above the hair line in the temple area), then it should not interfere with wearing dentures. If, however, the approach incision is under the upper lip near the upper gum, then it is possible for the resulting scar to interfere with a person's dentures. I hope this clarifies. Best wishes.

Mid Face LIft Can Be Performed in a Patient With Dentures

Genie, There are several approaches to performing a mid face lift. Some of these involve incisions on the inside of the upper lip close to the gums. You should be fine to have a mid face lift performed. If you have the incisions on the inside of your upper lip, you may not be able to wear your upper dentures during the healing period.

Midface for person with debtures

No contradiction to this procedure however;when dentures are worn there is a drastic loss of fat and soft tissue. Fat grafting would be a much better choice

Midface Lift and Dentures

Having dentures will not affect your ability to have a midface lift, but it might affect your ability to wear dentures for a while (depending on the approach). However, before embarking on a surgical procedure with relatively higher risk and lower yield, I would consider volume enhancement with Sculptra.

Midface lift and dentures

Lack of teeth (and use of dentures) does not cause any problems with surgery but may mean that you also have facial volume loss (both soft tissue and bone) and may benefit from fat grafting as in the photo link below.
