I had LHR done on other parts of my face - which wasn't permanent - and they would touch my eyebrow area - is there any method that can be used for the eyebrows for permanent hair removal?

Eyebrow hair removal

If the area is close to the orbital rim, it is safer to undergo electrolysis rather than laser hair removal on the eyeborw. Laser hair removal takes many treatments and when a surface area is small, it may be more efficient for an electrologist to do the treatment. On the other hand, the area between the eyebrows has been done successfully with laser hair removal quite often.

Electrolysis is a great hair removal option

Some people like to use a laser for hair removal on the face, especially when they are doing other areas of the body. However, Laser Hair Removal will never get rid of 100% of the hair; it is a permanent hair reduction and you should be wary of anyone promising otherwise. The permanent reduction should be in the range of 80% to 90%. One of the best options for the eyebrows is electrolysis. it targets individual hairs, for a precise treatment and works relatively fast. Electrolysis Recommended

For permanent hair removal of the eyebrows, I generally recomend electrolysis.  We have used laser hair removal for the "unibrow" area, but it is not advised on other areas of teh eyebrow due to the potential risks involved.

Laser hair removal not recommended for eyebrows

In addition to the reasons mentioned by my colleagues, I generalky advise against. laser hair removal for the eyebrows because eyebrow fashion changes. You may not want to make a permanent change to the shape and thickness of your eyebrows.

Laser Hair Removal Works for the Unibrow

Laser hair removal is not advisable for eyebrows except for the portion between the brows, called the unibrow. The reason is that the shape or size of your eyebrows may not match your face as you age and brow styles often change. You would also need metal shields to be placed in your eyes like contacts each time you had the treatments in order to properly protect your eyes ffrom the laser. However, tthe unibrow can be shaped successfully and safely with laser hair removal.

All Laser Hair Removal is Not the Same

You did not mention which laser was used for your treatment but some lasers certainly work better for permanent hair removal than others. We use the GentleMAX workstation by Candela. This laser combines the treatment capabilities of the GentleLASE & GentleYAG lasers so most skin types can be effectively treated. Lasers are specifically designed to remove unwanted hair faster, with less discomfort, and more reliability than all other methods.  Lasers creates a beam of highly... more

Laser hair removal for eyebrows may have eye complications

There are reports in the medical literature that laser hair removal of eyebrows resulted in problems with the iris and in cataracts, as well as persistent inflammation of the eye. Laser hair removal should not be used to shape eyebrows.  For glabellar laser hair removal (between the brows), one would need to use internal eyeshields and the patient has to be made aware of the potential risks to the eye from the procedure.
