Messed up permanent make up

A couple of weeks ago I decided to get permanent makeup. It was for my eyebrows, lips and eyes. The eyeliner was done really really badly. It gives my left eye a strange lopsided look because the tattoo is not done right. I could kick myself for doing this on a whim. I just opened the yellowpages and picked someone. Now I'm embarassed to be seen and I lose sleep thinking about how bad it looks. Do you know who I should go to for removing the messed up eyeliner tattoo?

Hi Kathryn, how are you?did the procedure hurt and will it cause any scarring at all/.i do want to get procedure done but at the current moment dont have the financial capabilities to go thru with it?was it really expensive?im just at the moment putting concealor on my brows to hide them alittle,im naturally light brown and the tattoist decided to tat them darkest brown, its embarrassing and im totally afraid of going to the beach or swimming pools as im afraid of the concealor coming off, lets just say my whole honeymoon i became paranoid of my husband seeing my black(almost)catapillars across my forhead.it definelty should be Banned.

Please share your story on this young girl's blog: Here She exposes the horrors of horrible jobs done by permanent make-up and I think it would be good if you could comment her about your experience.

Hi Caroline, I wouldn't say the procedure hurt as such, but it definitely is not pleasent and I was glad when it was over with. It's true what they say about feeling like you are getting splattered with hot fat. The laser the doctor uses to remove the tattoo (a Q-switched Nd-Yag) does apparantly not cause scarring, as it targets the ink without damaging the surrounding skin. Obviously my skin is a little bruised and sore to touch but it is getting better every day, it's been 4 days since now and it has definitely calmed down. I am having my next treatment in a month so I will let you know how things stand then. It is so sad that you are even having to hide your eyebrows away from your husband - but I know exactly how you feel (and totally sympathise about the swimming/beach problem). I told my boyfriend when I had them done at first 4 years ago, but ever since I have been trying to hide them from him (and everyone else) because I am so upset about the way they look. It's just ridiculous, it's no way to live. But what can you do? It is such a shame you can't afford to get rid of yours yet, luckily I have some savings which I am using to pay for mine. But hang on in there, why not talk to your husband and tell him how unhappy you are? I'm sure he would be all do willing to help you out with the cost if he can. Until then I am here if you need any moral support. Good luck Caroline x

Sorry forgot to say - yeah it is pretty expensive. It is costing me £100 a session which is more expensive than it should be for such a tiny tattoo, but the guy can charge what he likes as he is the only one in the area willing to treat permanent makeup. He is also a qualified doctor and very precise with the treatment so I don't really mind that I am being ripped off a bit. I am willing to pay whatever it costs to get rid of these eyebrows and get my life back, as I'm sure you can understand!

Aww thanks Caroline. It is only because I have spent so long researching ways to get rid of my own permanent makeup that I have become an expert on the subject! Hope my advice has helped you feel a bit more positive at this difficult time x

I had eyeliner done 8 months ago and i'm suffering with serious eye infections. They swell very badly and burn like fire. Eye specialist gave me some steroid drops, but that only helps for awhile. i look like i'm 10 years older than what i am. I'm in the process of trying to find a Dr. to remove it and also have been saving the money to have it removed. All i have read on laser removal is also scary ! People really need to be warned of how serious this can be ! TEARS

I had permanent eyeliner done July 2007, I have had infections since. Eye specialist gave me steroid drops and that only works for awhile...then it comes back. I'm in the process of looking for a Dr. that can remove it. What I have read about the laser surgery scares me, but don't know what else to do. I'm having to wear sunglasses when I do decide to go out. The public should really be aware of how serious this is...I found out the hard way ! TEARS !
