Mentor silicone implants currently available are cohesive, meaning that the gel inside them will tend to stay within the shell even if the shell shoule rupture. Recent data showed the rupture rates, however, to be extremely low. Whether the rewards outweigh the risks is a decision that only you can determine after an appropriate and informative consult with a qualified plastic surgeon. I have been using Mentor implants for years and have placed over 500 pairs of Memory gel implants in patients. I have been very pleased with the performance of these implants.
