Treating Melasma While on Birth Control Pills?

I've been using birth control pills for almost one year now. A few months ago I've noticed this melasma on my nose and a few small spots on my cheeks. I'm afraid it will be worsened. If I treat it but still continue to use birth control pills, is it still possible to cure the melasma?
