Acne medication

The most effective medication for blackheads is tretinoin, adapalene or tazarotene cream.  They are only available as a prescription from your physician.  Over the counter medication includes salicylic acid in a wash or wipe form and benzoyl peroxide gel.  You should be assessed by a dermatologist to see which treatments would be best for you.

Dear Kalyani,

Topical retinoids medications are the mainstay of treatment for blackheads in acne. Visit your board-certified dermatologist. He/she will evaluate your skin and provide the best medication specifically for you.
