If a woman is going in for elective surgery. What are her rights? Can she refuse a urine pregnancy test? If so, can the anesthesiologist cancel the case? What about for young teenagers under 18 if they go in for surgery with their parents present and they don't want a pregnancy test?

If a woman is going in for elective surgery. ... Can she refuse a urine pregnancy test? - A patient can refuse any test she wants to. But a surgeon is not obligated to operate without the data he needs before beginning the operation. Operating on a pregnant woman can be associated with severe injuries to the fetus. Why would any woman WANT to assume such a risk? Have the operation AFTER the pregnancy has been resolved.
