"Maintenance Dose" for Juvederm or Restylane?

According to Dr. Ronald Shelton, too much Restylane or Juvederm can cause undesired lumps. Why should there be a problem with "too much product"? Why can't a patient buy only 1/2 as much because a whole syringe DOES overfill and look unnatural for quite a long time. What do we get if we just need a "maintenance" dose?

1/2 syringe available only from Restylane

Juvederm does not make a 1/2 size syringe. A lot of times only 1/2 size syringe is needed for touch up. There is no reason to get lumps from Juvederm or Restylane. These are very soft materials and can be injected quite easily. If you run into a lump like situation, hyaluronidase can easily remove it.b Regards

Maintenance dose of Juvederm or Restylane

Juvederm only comes in 0.8 mL syringes while Restylane comes in 1.0 and 0.4 syringes. If you do not require a full syringe of Juvederm, you may want to consider going with the 0.4 mL Restylane syringe. While too much product in a single location in an area of thin skin can produce lumps, too much product in general should not cause lumps.

Fillers

This is what I call "topping it off" In some patients who have had a good result, sometimes come in a fwe months later noting that the correction is not as good as it was. Restylane has 1/2 cc syringes, but remember it may not last as long as some of the others.
