Lower Body Lift Doctor Recommendation

I am considering lower body lift after gastric bypass done in 1996. Can you suggest a surgeon? This will be a once in a lifetime procedure and I want to get done in 8/09. I also at least need guidelines (I know it depends on MD and locale) when I interview doctors. Thank you!

How Do I Find A Surgeon?

If you have not been given a recommendation by your bariatric surgeon then please go the American Society of Plastic Surgeons website to find several surgeons in your area. I would also suggest you have more than one consultation and be sure to ask how many of these procedures they do. It is also a good idea to look at before and after photos and ask to speak to one of their patients. Good luck.

Best MD for lower body lift

I would look for a board certified plastic surgeon who has expertise in caring for patients after weight loss. They should operate in an accredited facility. I personally have my patients stay 1-3 days after their procedures. Your safety is the most important thing. Make sure your doctor puts together a safe and effective operative plan for you.

Finding a Surgeon for your surgery

Thank you for your question. I don't know if you have already found your surgeon and had your procedure but in case you haven't, I would also suggest that you discuss this with your Bariatric Surgeon to see if he/she has any referrals for you. I would also ask that you visit the American Society of Plastic Surgery website and do some research on surgeon's who have experience with weight loss patients. Good Luck!

Dr. recommendation in NY

There are plenty of talented plastic surgeons in New York state.  I'd start by finding an ASPS or ASAPS member, and then narrow it down based on their experience with gastric bypass / massive weight loss patients.  Study their before and after photos, and find someone with a caring personality.   All the best,

Lower Body Lift Surgeon in Los Angeles

I perform lower body lifts in patients who have undergone gastric bypass, lap band surgery, O band surgery, and gastric banding.  Weight loss can cause significant laxity of the skin that can be addressed with well placed incisions and a surgical body lift.

Lower body lift

As a plastic surgeon who specializes in post-bariatric plastic surgery, my recoomendation is to go to someone who specializes in this filed and has done many. This field is progressing rapidly and newer techniques have been developed espeically for the post bariatric patient. These include newer techniques for breast lift, breast augmentation with your own tissue, Spiral thigh lift, and buttock reshaping.

Use your support network to find lower body lift doctor

Even though it has been sometime since your bariatric surgery, I would encourage you to speak with others in local bariatric support networks. Many individuals in your area have gone through the same process of determining which surgeon is best for them so best make use of their experience. Personal recommendations tend to be the most valuable since you are getting a perspective from someone sharing the same experience as you. Speak with your bariatric surgeon as well, but look to other... more

Lower Body Lift Doctor Recommendation

Your best starting point is to consult The American Society of Plastic Surgeons - ASPS. Every one of its members is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and unlike other groups purporting to be plastic surgeons, ASPS members have to abide by a strict code of ethics. Visit www.plasticsurgery.org and you can get the names of members in your area. Armed with such a list, I would ask your bariatric surgeons for the names of Plastic surgeons he/she is familiar with and go and see /... more

Post gastric bypass surgeon

Your best bet is to ask the local Dr's who do the gastric bypass which plastic surgeons they send their patients to. This will give you a small group of plastic surgeons who have the experience. Then check them out. You shouild have a consultation that includes before and after pictures of previous patients.

Choose your lower body lift surgeon carefully

You must feel great after your weight reduction. Losing the excess skin can improve self image, and improve the fit and appearance in clothes. First, is to choose a board certified plastic surgeon with experiance in the post-bariatric patients, who knows how to sequence the procedures to maximize your results and who is current in not only the latest surgical techniques but the latest safety measures for your post operative care. Choosing wisely should help you achieve your goals in the... more

Use a surgeon who specilizes in weight loss patients.

Congrats on your weight loss. Plastic surgery can go a long way to help you complete your journey. Post-bariatric plastic surgery is a very specialized area of plastic surgery, and requires a very different evaluation of patients, modified techniques, and specialized pre- and postop care because of the changes in your body and metabolism . You would want to limit your choices to a plastic surgeon who specilizes in the care of weight loss patients. Hopefully, your procedures can be... more
