I'm a healthy 21 yr old & had a breast lift(no implants) done at UCLA 8 days ago. I only mild discomfort & I'm no longer on pain meds & antibiotics. Ucla said to wait 3 more weeks but didn't really explain why. If I'm really careful, don't get my heart rate up, & don't do positions that would put stress on my chest what's the big deal? I'm currently using a wrap/bandage & a post-surgical bra on top of it which restricts breast movement that I'd leave on during sex, & of course make it quick.
Answer: Sex after BA Your plastic surgeon will give you the best answer in your specific case about this and sex. For most of my patients I allow sex to begin at 6 weeks with the woman on top to minimize the risk of trauma. Here are some of the guidelines I give my patients following breast reduction: Following surgery, you will be walking in a bent-over position to keep tension off the newly tightened skin incision site. Although strenuous activity, and lifting more than twenty pounds, must be avoided for 6 weeks, some people can return to work and daily activities as soon as 2 weeks after surgery. Softening of the surgical scars, return of sensation, and improvement of shape may take several months to a year or more. Light activity is comfortable in 10-20 days. No sports or heavy lifting for 6 weeks or more – please discuss with your doctor for specific questions.#breastaugmentation#sexaftersurgery

Answer: Sex after breast augmentation or mastopexy Thank you for your question. I generally recommend waiting until all the swelling is down before engaging in sexual activity. So typically two weeks would be fine. However, I would not recommend a lot breast manipulation as part of your sexual activities until you are closer to six weeks.

Answer: Wait for 1 month I would suggest that you wait a full month before engaging in any activity that can cause bleeding or tear the healing tissues.

Answer: Sex after surgery While having sex after surgery is not necessarily a problem unto itself, it is important to remember that your incisions are still very delicate and susceptible to even the slightest trauma for the first week or so. I usually recommend holding off from significant activity for about 2-3 weeks after surgery.

Answer: Protect your investment Most surgeons will tell you to wait at least 2 weeks to have sex. The reason is that we don't want your blood pressure or heart rate rising too much as that can lead to a blood collection around the implant called a hematoma. So you should also avoid all other activities that raise your blood pressure or heart rate, like working out, or getting overly excited (orgasm included). After 2 weeks, you should approach it carefully and avoid movements that can cause you or your partner to dislodge the placement of the implant for about 6 weeks. Of course it is always best to follow the advice of your plastic surgeon as each has different protocols and reasons for them based on your case. Best wishes.
