I have a mole on my chin that I've had since childhood. It's healthy, but it has developed pores and gotten larger (protrudes more from my face, not wider) over the years. It's round and is about 3/4 the size of a pencil eraser (in both size around it and how far it protrudes from my face). I actually like it and feel that it makes me unique, so I don't want it removed. I just want to keep the size in check. Is it possible to shave off a good portion without removing it?

Answer: Cosmetic Mole Removal

Moles should not become irritated. If there was no external trauma, the body's immune system may be reacting to it. You should have it looked at by a dermatologist and consider having it removed and tested.
Laser or shave dessiccation are both good options and can be performed by a dermatologist. Excision is the next best but can leave bigger scarring and can be done by either plastic surgeon or dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer.
Actually it looks relatively normal but shave biopsies from the lower back often look like this and take a long time to heal...probably will be another 3 weeks till the wound closes...good luck
