I want to find the perfect physician to REDO my breast implants. I had them done about 10-14 years ago and they were perfect. I am so so sad now because they are totally different, they sag really bad and go to the side now. I have seen several doctors, and I'm scared and honestly not sure if i should trust them.

Also, I'm worried as they tell me what i want may not be achievable. I thought about finding out who someone like Pamela Anderson or Demi Moore went to and see if those physicians can help me. Can you help?

Finding the best plastic surgeon for breast implant revision surgery in Los Angeles

Breast augmentation revision surgery or breast implant replacement surgery is a difficult and challenging surgery. There are many factors that are important, beginning with your breasts. do you breasts sag, do you have capsular contracture of breast implants, do you have significant asymmetry. I recommend that you consult with several Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who routinely perform breast augmentation revision in Los Angeles. Make sure that they show you all types of results,... more

Finding the perfect surgeon.

As in any field perfection is not possible for a surgeon. The best ones realize the limitations of what they do. Consult with surgeons until you find one that is experienced, expert, and reputable. Trust is something that generally takes a couple of consultations to fully develop between surgeon and patient. You should have an initial response that the surgeon understands what you are trying to accomplish, honest in their evaluation and recommendations, and skilled in... more

Finding the "Perfect Doctor" is an Unrealistic Pursuit

Perfection may be the goal,  but perfect is seldom achieved! If perfection is the expectation, disappointment is a considerable risk. There is no way to anticipate perfection, but: get a couple of consultations with Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons with experience in breast revision or secondary breast implant surgery and, if possible, a reputation for excellence in secondary breast surgery if you can get personal or professional (from a doctor or... more

How to choose the best surgeon for you.

Ask your OBGYN for a recommendation. These physicians routinely see our work. Secondly, ask your friends. Once you have a list of names, check  for Plastic Surgery Board Certification. Make certain you are comfortable with the potential surgeon and the staff. Ask the surgeon  about their experience in breast revisions. It is important to keep in mind that we continue to age and gravity will set it. Discuss your expectations with your potential surgeon in depth so that you have... more

The "perfect" surgeon to redo breast implants!

Please recognize that no surgeon, regardless of training, experience, celebrity patient list, or (high) cost, will EVER get a "perfect surgeon" badge or certificate in the mail. Any surgeon who operates will occasionally have less-than-perfect results, complications, non-compliant patients who increase the likelihood of the aforementioned problems, and even the rare unhappy patient. Only the honest ones may admit this, and the best ones keep those "less-than-perfect"... more

Revisionary breast imploant surgery

Revisionary breast implant surgery can be a difficult operation to perform for those plastic surgeons who don't do a lot of breast augmentation surgeries.  Some surgeons only feel comfortable placing the implants in the first initial operation.   Problems related to breast enhancement include capsular contracture, and asymmetry, external scarring and ptosis.  A good look at before and after photos and discussion with a few potential surgeons will give you an idea... more

Revision breast surgery requires special expertise

Revision surgery for problems with implants is much more diificult that placing them in the first place. For this and other reasons, the biggest predictor of the need for a revision is the first revision. It is very important to get the first revision surgery right or you may end up in a cycle of revision surgeries, each one becoming more difficult because of scarring, etc. You should specifically ask surgeons you are considering whether revision surgery is a special interest of theirs, and... more

Finding the Perfect Surgeon for Breast Implant Revision

It would be great if that could be done. It is, in fact, very difficult to know how to advise someone in finding a surgeon. It helps if you know someone who has had the procedure you're interested in. Even that is not, of course, a guarantee, nor can there be one with any specific surgeon or procedure. That, unfortunately, is just the way it is. If you don't have a recommendation from a patient, you can contact your own physicians for recommendations in your... more

How to find a doctor to revise breast implants

I think that personal recommendation is usually best.  Failing that, look for a surgeon who is trained in plastic surgery by looking at the association websites and preferably, someone who specialises in breast surgery.  Good luck.

Start with the ASPS

Before you start Surgeon Shopping, check with The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) for a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area. That's a good place to start. There are a lot of Doctors calling themselves Plastic Surgeons, that are not. Sounds like you need to consult with a Surgeon to determine if you need a Breast Lift, Implant exchange, and breast pocket revision. Your breast pockets could be too large for your implants. Your tissue could... more

No such thing as a "perfect doctor"

I can understand your anxiety. Breast revision surgery can be costly, and you are quite unhappy with the current appearance of your breasts. It sounds like your breasts have undergone expected changes over the last decade possibly related to weight fluctuations, breast feeding, or just normal aging. The best recommendation I can give is to do your homework, and not to get in a hurry when searching for the right plastic surgeon for you. The "perfect... more

How to find the perfect Doctor?

Unfortunately it does not exsist. There are doctors out there who are board certified, enjoy perfoming revisionary breast augmentation surgery and who are good at it. I encourage you to find someone who is honest, will tell you that there is no perfection, but will attempt to do his best to give you an excellent result. Good luck!

Perfect REDO Doctor

I think it's important you find the right doctor for you. Breast revision surgery can be challenging and it's best to consult with a few Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who have expertise and comfort with this type of work. Select a surgeon who you feel comfortable with and understands your goals and desires. It's also important to have a realistic idea of the potential limitations and outcomes of your surgery. Your surgeon should be able... more

Revision breast augmentation

So the question is, do the implants "sag really bad and go to the side" or is it your breasts? If you implants were "perfect" and 10-14 years have passed I suspect it is the breasts that are the issue. You may need a breast lift (mastopexy). I would search out an experienced board certified plastic surgeon and ask about whether they have done a lot of revisional breast implant surgery. It can be quite difficult, but it can also lead to some really... more

Finding Surgeon for Revisionary Breast Surgery?

Thank you for the question. Although there is no such thing as a “perfect surgeon”, you will find that there are plastic surgeons who have more experience than others with specific operations. It will be up to you to do your due diligence in the process of selecting a plastic surgeon who has significant experience helping patients in your situation. I would suggest starting with the American Society of Plastic Surgery and/or the Aesthetic Society of... more

The Perfect surgeon

There are important factors to consider in choosing a surgeon, and you should wait to have surgery until you find a surgeon you are comfortable with. There is no such thing as a "perfect" surgeon, but you may find one that is perfect for you. The first few things I would recommend are 1-find a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (other boards such as Cosmetic Surgery are not the same), 2- ask the surgeon about his or her experience with revision breast... more
