I want to schedule a Revision Rhinoplasty but have be taking supplements containing Ginkgo Bilboa, Licorice Extract, Green Tea Extract, Vitamin E, among others. How long should I wait and is there any other vitamin or herb I should cut down on or completely eliminate from my diet? Thanks.

When to discontinue vitamins and herbal supplements for surgery

We instruct patients to discontinue all vitamins and herbal supplements two weeks before their surgery. Patients may resume using supplements two weeks after surgery.

When to stop herbal supplements prior to rhinoplasty

My recommendation is to stop these types of supplements 2 weeks before surgery. You should follow the specific recommendations of your surgeon, though. I've attached a link to my office's list of medications and supplements to avoid around the time of surgery.

Restricted Foods, Supplements, and Medicines Pre-op

Every surgeon has a list of foods, supplements, and medicines to avoid before surgery. In general, i recommend that these products be avoided for 2 weeks. Follow your surgeon's instructions.

Restricted Medications Prior to Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty

I amnot a big fan of various herbal therapies because many have products that are not known and many cuse bleeding. I usually tell my patients to stop herbals two to three weeks prior to surgery.
